How to add product reviews on Shopify store

Step 1: Navigate to the Shopify App Store

Begin by signing into your Shopify account. New to Shopify? Check our quick-start course. Once logged in, from your Shopify admin dashboard, click on Apps and then Customize your store to navigate to the Shopify App Store.


Step 2: Search for Product Reviews in the App Store

In the App Store, search for Product Reviews using the search bar. The app may also be recommended on your main dashboard. Despite the plethora of options in the App Store, the Product Review app is a standout for its simplicity and free availability.


Step 3: Add and install the Product Reviews app

On the Product Reviews page, find Add app. You'll return to your Shopify dashboard to go through the app’s permissions and privacy policy. After reviewing, install the app. You'll then see a Product Reviews tab under Apps.


Step 4: Navigate to the Shopify theme editor for the customize button

Shopify's ease of use extends to adding product reviews. After setting up the app, visit the theme editor by selecting Online Store, then Themes, and finally Customize.


Step 5: In the theme editor, find the product page template

In the theme editor, go to the Products dropdown and select Default product to begin modifications.


Step 6: Click Add section and find the reviews section under Apps

In the editing page, under Product information, choose Add block. In the Apps section, pick either Reviews or Star rating. Reviews show complete customer feedback, while Star rating displays the average rating.


Step 7: Customize your Product Reviews block(s)

Despite being free, the Product Reviews app allows basic customizations. Adjust the reviews through the sidebar. For the Star rating, modify color, size, and alignment. These blocks can be rearranged for optimal placement.


For more advanced adjustments, head to the app settings under Apps. Here, you can control review publishing, email alerts, star icon color, and layout. You can also tweak the wording and functionality of the review sections and forms.
